Kyla is rapidly becoming my favorite writer. Her piece on friction that just hit my inbox, and then seeped directly into my brain, is one that (per her usual) I think we all should digest. I don’t have any grand proclamations to add here, only that I think we’re all sensing these big, structural, and cyclical shifts. And it’s causing everything to feel off. Behind the scenes, there is a battle over what our lived world will even be in another decade or two. More thoughts another day, perhaps.

One thing that draws me to rural Illinois is the trains. I dream of living the life of a hobo and creating a large body of work from that perspective, but know I don’t have it in me to do so. I’m going to sound like a boomer for a moment but I must say, I will never take for granted the sheer amount of things that happen, out of sight, in order to enable our lives to be smooth and easy. Easy is a very relative term, but that’s not my point. While it may feel like the world is rapidly spinning out of control at the moment, it is perhaps helpful to consider things could be far, far worse. It helps me, at least. A chicken in every pot.

I haven’t had a glizzy in too long. I dislike that term, but I learned it by eating a dog at the Ranch. I haven’t had a dog in far too long. Maybe tonight is the night.
